Slow Flow Yoga:

This class is designed to help you find and develop your unique breathing and movement patterns. Vinyasa means to combine breath with movement and this class slows down enough for us to really explore the strength, the balance and the softness that can happen in the perfect union of vinyasa. This class also begins to explore how we can move with the lessons we learn on our mats, off the mat and out into our lives.  Wednesdays, 8:00-9:00am @ Yoga at Cattitude.

This class is on winter break and will resume in April or May

Hatha Flow Yoga:

This 60 minute class has the intention of opening our hearts and minds to the amazing realizations of Self. A great introduction to vinyasa flow yoga, this class is sequenced to inspire and awaken the practitioner's inner strength. Inspired by Phoenix Rising Yoga, the themes and meditations in class offer ways to apply the knowledge we gain on our mats, off, into our daily lives. Vinyasa yoga concentrates its efforts on the beautiful unity of breath and movement, connecting all of yoga's postures with grace and flow. This is a more active movement form of yoga and while alignment and safe foundations are always where we begin, we surrender into the meditation of movement. Any level welcome.  Sundays, 930-1030am @ Cattitude

**There is an optional 30 minute sitting meditation after class

  Women's Full Moon Council

Women, gather together under the light of the full moon for an experience that opens us to our divine feminine energy as we sit together in one of the most ancient traditions of communication; council.  Each month’s council will have a different theme for our stories to weave around.  At each gathering we will spend time at the beginning recalling the guidelines that help us create the safe container of the circle.  No experience with council is necessary to partake in this ritual event.  You are also not required or expected to speak during the council…sitting and listening to the stories is good enough.

Dates:

Sunday, February 28

Monday, March 29

Note there is no council in April

Thursday, May 27

**All council times are from 7:15-8:15pm unless otherwise posted**

Cost:  $10.00

Place: Yoga @ Cattitude

Upcoming Workshops

Tell Me More Hanuman:  Exploring splits and hips while listening to the tale of Hanuman.

Saturday, February 27: 9:00-12:00

$30 tuition Yoga @ Cattitude

Consider that deities hold metaphorical meaning for aspects of our own humanity.  In this workshop you will explore the symbolism of Hanuman, the Indian monkey deity who is the son of the wind and hero in the great Indian epic The Ramayana.  Your journey of getting to know how Hanuman lives within you begins with story and moves into the experience of the five directions of how prana flows in your body, both through exploring them in pranayama (breathing exercises) and in asana (posture).   You will learn to combine them together in a freestyle vinyasa flow (literal meaning: precise movement with breath.)  Your exploration brings you back full circle; we will end with a process circle that supports listening to the stories inside yourself that illuminate Hanuman’s influence in your daily life. While many modifications and posture possibilities will be offered, your practice will include a deep exploration of your hips and what they hold physically, emotionally, mentally and energetically.

Yoga's Subtle Postures:  The Breath and Bhandas

Saturday, March 13: 10-12

$20 Tuition Yoga @ Cattitude

Focus on the bigger more physical postures of yoga have been quite popular in the Western world.  And as you become more and more familiar with yoga poses, you will find that the subtle movement of the breath and energy body greatly effect the expression of your posture.  As breath is integral to all yoga practice, and bhandas are specifically used in vinyasa's jumping movements, this workshop is created to support you in taking your practice to the next level.  This would be a great workshop to attend before Sunday's  "Putting the Vinyasa Together" posture clinic.

Posture Clinics

Join me in using props, stories, chants and the support of one another in partner poses to play with and wiggle deeper into a few select posture.  All clinics are 90 minutes, tuition is $15 for each and theytake place at Yoga @ Cattitude in Bar Harbor.

Sunday, February 28:  Posture Clinic:  Open your heart to Cobra and Upward Facing dog.  11-12:30pm

Let’s dive deeper into our hearts by exploring cobra and upward facing dog!  In order for our hearts to truly open in a backbend, it must come from a rooted and grounded foundation; cobra and upward facing dog are perfect postures to explore this foundation before moving on to more intense backbends.  Let’s use this hour find our connection to the earth (through our hands, hip bones and toes!), to play with props and work together (sometimes our hearts need support to open....) and share stories of our heart spaces.  After leaving this posture clinic you’ll have a good idea of how to ground down to lift up and out from your heart.

Sunday, March 28:  Posture Clinic:  The Warrior Poses!!  Let the energy of Virabhadra (Siva's Warrior aspect) energize this standing sequence.

11-12:30pm

Accessing our inner warrior can sometimes be quite challenging, especially if we are feeling fearful or ungrounded.  Come listen to the story of Virabhadra and let his tale, along with the support of props and each other's bodies infuse your posture with the warrior spirit.  True warriors know how to use all their senses, and this will be a fun clinic where the both the physical and energetic alignment of Warrior 1, 2 and 3 will have a chance to be explored through sound, touch and sight.

Sunday, April 11:  Posture Clinic: Urdhva Dhanurasana: Opening to the wheel of life.

11-12:30pm

Our lives move in circles; from the broader picture of life/death/life to the daily ritual of going from and returning to home.  Facing the continual circles of life asks us to have courgae and open hearts, as we often repeat similar experiences in the mandala (sacred circle) of life.  In this posture clinic you will learn how to find the center point (your heart) of your circle which creates stable point for the spokes (arms and legs) of your life to expand from.  Using the symbol of a wheel in our warmups, and following it with play time in smaller backbends and other strengthening postures, props and each other you will find ways to solidly connect to yourself to access the courgae it takes to keep rolling with life.

Redefining Stress: The Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy approach to living with stress

We all have stress.  Stress is a normal and important part of our existence.  However, most all of us experience an overwhelming experience of and response to stress.  Our bodies begins to hurt, our bellies and colons have trouble processing what we take in, our heads ache.  Stress isn't just in the form of negative life experiences, sometimes we are stressed out by too many wonderful opportunities and don't know how to find balance with all life has to offer.

This eight week program offers you tools to navigate the effects of daily stress.  You will explore the many ways in which you respond and hold onto stress.  Using your body, breath and 8 different transformational themes as the anchor for your experience, you will learn how to listen to the symbolic meanings and solutions your body offers you.  Your body has wisdom, and this program helps you discover and trust it.
